Product Details

Small donabe rice cooker handcrafted on a pottery wheel by artisans in Iga using local Iga clay. Iga is traditionally one of the production centers for pottery and ceramic wares in Japan, Iga-yaki (Iga ware) reacts well to repeated firing and retains heat well which makes it perfect for cooking. This clay pot is created specially for cooking rice - the balloon shape allowing rice to circulate and the stable double lid works like a pressure cooker, so it delivers heat evenly and retains the temperature and steam extremely well

It is an essential item for those who enjoys cooked rice at home Japanese way.

This pot is for cooking 2-go (cups) of rice.
For use with gas stove only.

* The donabe rice cooker requires seasoning - a special process called Medome before the first use since the dobnabe is made from clay and the material is naturally porous. (Instruction in English will be included)

It also requires a few simple but important daily care/precautions such as to avoid cooling the pot with cold water straight after taken it off the heat or to make sure the bottom part of the pot is completely dry before start cooking - to protect the pot from cracking, so the donabe rice cooker may not be such an easy tool but it will certainly gives you a joy of beautifully cooked rice that is incomparable to rice cooked in the electric cooker.
